More Outside Fun

We've had some very hot weather here the last few days, so we've been spending some time outside enjoying the sunshine.  Stay tuned for pictures of Rebecca's first time playing with the hose!

I got some sidewalk chalk for her thinking she'd enjoy it since she's been having fun with coloring and painting.  I took out the chalks and showed her how to use them and she went right to work!  I also had such a fun time drawing little pictures!  Here are some of the pictures from our adventures:

In this picture, you can see chalk all over  her bottom!  Ever time I drew a picture, she'd go and sit right on it.  I'm not sure if that was commentary on my artistic ability, or she just thought it was fun.  Needless to say, we had some extra laundry and the need for a bath!

In other news, we are beginning to really learn how trying toddlers can be!  She is testing our limits and testing us to see if we will follow through with our discipline.  And I'll say that we are doing the best we can.  I know how important consistency and follow through are for babies and we are doing pretty well with it.  The other night, we were really struggling with her climbing up on the couch and jumping around (we're trying to get her to sit on her bottom when she gets up there).  Mike looked at her and was giving her a warning and said "Rebecca, I know you understand what I'm saying to you" and she looked right back at him and shook her head!  That little stinker!  I had to turn away and stifle a laugh.

We are also finally making some progress with speech.  She's said a few new words and repeated them at least a few times, so I think I wasn't just hearing things.  We aren't getting a lot of consistency, but in the past week or so she's said "bye bye", "bubba" (bubble), "oh wow" and "ca" (cat).  She also like to mimic me when I say, out of frustration, "ay-yi-yi".  So cute!

Here are a couple of other cute pictures from the week!
