Summer Wrap-Up

I missed quite a few Summertime happenings, so here's one big post to capture all the miscellaneous things we did.

But first, some funnies from dinner last night.  Last week, Rebecca came home and announced that she had peas at school and she liked them!  So, I decided to make a dinner with peas last night to try and reinforce the whole pea thing.  It was my own version of something my mom used to make...bowtie pasta (one of Rebecca's favorites), sauce, cream and peas.

She took a bite and said (this is a direct quote):  "It tastes kinda like dirt, but it's food, so you can eat it".

She proceeded to pick the peas off the pasta, but then wanted candy.  I told her she had to eat a bite of peas to get candy.  She took a single pea and spit it out about a millisecond after it touched her tongue.  She started crying because I was SO evil for making hear eat a pea.  Then, through her tears, she looks at the pile of peas and says "they're USELESS"!!

Hilarious!

Here's the rest of the Summer:

At the end of July, Rebecca went to visit my aunt and uncle.  We had a nice visit.  Here are some pics:

We also did a few outdoor things:

It was hot and she didn't want to go to the pool.  So...we made our own.  For Sheila...WTAGP!!

The next few pics are on a hike at our favorite nature center.

I absolutely love this pic!  She looks so happy!  That's a roly poly crawling on her by the way!

This was a couple of weeks ago at the park.  The park was NOT doing a good job at conserving water, and the grass was just saturated - leaving puddles all over.  Rebecca discovered worms in all the puddles and she had to touch all of them!

At the beginning of August we went to a birthday party for one of Rebecca's friends.  It was an Olympic theme.

Rebecca loves Northwood's Inn - a steak restaurant that looks like a snow-covered lodge.  She doesn't care anything about the food - but they do have whole peanuts in the shell that you can eat and throw the shells on the sawdust covered floor.  She wanted to go there for her birthday dinner, but we couldn't really see spending $75 for dinner when all she eats is the peanuts!  So, I bought some whole peanuts at the store, and we went outside to recreate it!

And last but not least, she's back in gymnastics class and loving it:
