Flamingos and Baby Stew

The Easter Bunny brought this really cute outfit, and Rebecca wore it for the first time yesterday:

Yesterday, I also made a big pot of baby stew!  Now that doesn't mean a stew made of baby and that Rebecca was thrown in the pot!  It means a big pot of yummy stuff that was pureed and strained for her to eat.  I don't feel it's completely necessary to make every bite of food that goes into her mouth.  I think the store bought foods are great and healthy and convenient.  But, I thought it would be fun to make a few things myself from time to time for variety and to save a few pennies.  The idea of the stew came from my friend's mom.

I just threw in a bunch of veggies - carrots, zucchini, celery, yellow squash, sweet potato and broccoli, a little bit of chicken and some barley with a little low sodium chicken stock.  I cooked it until it was mush and then blended it in the food processor and strained to get any big pieces out.  It actually doesn't taste too bad, except for the complete absence of any seasoning.  I gave it to her for dinner and she seemed to love it.  It had a bit more texture to it than she's used to but she handled it just fine.  She's growing up!

Here's a picture of her eating it for the first time:
