The Fernie Family : Busy Girl

Rebecca has been a very busy girl in the past few weeks! She is learning new things constantly and it seems like those things come much more closely together now.

Here are some of the new things she's been up to:

She points to Mommy and Daddy on command! She may not be saying those words yet, but she points to us when the words are said.
She is able to point to body parts on command! She knows belly, nose, head and toes. There are a couple of others I've seen her do once or twice, but not with consistency.
She is getting better at using her fork, but I think she finds it inefficient and prefers to use her hands to shovel food into her mouth. She is starting to use a spoon, but it's messy!
She's dancing more and more - spinning around and bouncing when she hears music or anything that sounds like music. This morning I was beating an egg in a bowl and I turned around and saw her dancing to the beat!
She has used crayons a few times. She prefers to just play with them, but she has colored a little bit too.
She loves books. Not just reading them, but eating them. We've had to trash quite a few that she literally chews holes through. But I love that she loves reading. She will bring us books over and over again and then sit on our laps while we read. She wakes up from a nap and points to her books first thing. I hope this continues!
She also loves "magazines". And by "magazines", I generally mean catalogs, junk mail, etc. She waits by the table when we bring in the mail to see what she'll get to look at. She'll sit there and flip through the pages and then she carries it around and rips them up into teeny tiny pieces.
She loves being outside. Daddy takes her out almost every day and I take her out on the weekends and sometimes in the afternoons. She's fascinated with the leaves that are all over
And excited when it's time to brush her teeth. I wonder how long that will last?
And one last funny story...We were at Chick-Fil-A for lunch a few days ago. You know how they have those cow mascots? Well, they gave Rebecca a little place mat with the cows on it. While we were waiting for our order, I decided to use the time productively and quiz her on her body parts and other things. When I got to "Where's Mama", she didn't point lovingly at me...she pointed at the cow on her placemat. Nice.
