Rebecca Elbow

I've had this weird pain in my elbow the last few weeks.  I thought I must have just slept on it weird and it would go away.  Well, it didn't and it's been getting worse.  So, I finally got myself to the doctor yesterday.  Diagnosis:  Tennis Elbow.  Clearly, I'm not one of the Williams sisters, so I laughed when the doc told me that.  But, she confirmed it's most likely from just being a mom - picking up Rebecca, all the repetitive motions of taking care of a child.  So, I'm now calling my diagnosis Rebecca Elbow.

There has been a lot going on lately.  First, we've discovered that Rebecca is a computer genius.  When I'm working from home on my laptop, Rebecca likes to sit down and type.  I usually open up a blank Word document and just let her type.  This morning, she was doing it and all of a sudden the entire display on my computer was upside down and the mouse was functioning backwards.  I have NO idea what combination of buttons she used to get that to happen.  Mike had to google it to fix it for me.

Along those lines, a couple of weeks ago she was looking at pictures on my phone.  I was cooking dinner and just let her hold it.  Big mistake.  When I went to check on her, I found that she deleted almost all of the pictures from my phone.  It would have taken quite a series of clicks and answering questions to delete what she did.  And in the place of all those pictures, she was also able to take 3 pictures like this:

We had to spend $40 on recovery software to get my pictures back.  It is SO coming out of her piggy bank!

We also took Rebecca to her first swimming lesson a few weeks ago.  It was her first time in a pool and she loved it.  We've been to 3 lessons so far and we've taken her to our condo's pool a few times and she really does enjoy it.  And she looks so stinkin' cute in her little bathing suit!

She and I had a really cool experience with some ducks last weekend.  We have 4 or 5 ducks that seem to live in our condo complex.  So it's not completely unusual for us to see them around and feed them a stale hot dog bun or two.  But last weekend I had the screen door open to let in some air and I heard the quacks.  When I looked outside, a male and a female were hanging out right outside our door.  So I grabbed a bin of Cheerios and Rebecca and we went outside.  We sat on our step and threw Cheerios to the ducks.  They seemed to enjoy them!  Rebecca was in awe.  I mean, these ducks were probably only a foot away from us some of the time.  I told Rebecca how nice it was for her to share her Cheerios.  And we talked to the ducks about how Rebecca goes to swimming lessons since they are such good swimmers.  It was one of those really beautiful parent/child moments.  I wasn't worried about getting dirty, or being outside in our jammies.  I didn't rush to get the camera.  I just enjoyed this moment with my daughter.  So fun.

Here are a few more pictures from the last few weeks.

Rebecca has been climbing a lot.  I think she feels like a big girl when she's able to get up on our kitchen chairs.  Easter weekend we were sitting there and me and my mom hear her whining but it took us a minute to figure out that she had climbed up on the chair WHILE IT WAS PUSHED UNDER THE TABLE!!  This time, I did grab the camera first and then we rescued her!

This was yesterday at the park.  This tree has a big root that sticks out of the ground.  She was having fun climbing it and I just thought this was a cool picture.

Here she is after eating her first chicken nuggets at McDonald's last week.  She is VERY in to "dip" these days.  Ketchup, BBQ Sauce, dressing, salsa, syrup...you name it.  If she can dip her food in it, she's super happy.  She even seems to enjoy dipping, um...unconventional things.  For example, she'll dip a strawberry in some salsa, or dip a green bean in strawberry jelly.  Tasty!
