Just Trying to Keep Her Busy!

Yep, the title of this post says a lot without saying a lot.  We are trying lots of different activities to keep her busy and challenged and it is exhausting!

Here's a sampling from the last few weeks.

Swimming!  We've taken her to our complex pool and she loves it.  She's getting more and more comfortable being in the water and especially loved this little raft/tube thing because she could be a bit more independent.  The last time we went, I was going to forego the swim diaper because she is potty trained and if I made sure she went before we got in the pool, we'd be o.k.  I said something to her like "I think we won't use a swim diaper today" and she said "I need it because I don't want to pee in the pool"!
These next few pictures are of an obstacle course I set up for her recently.  I got some pool noodles at the dollar store and started from there.  I also used a song from one of her favorite shows, Team Umizoomi.  It teaches the concepts of over/under/around/through.  So all of my obstacles centered around that.  She loved it.  Yes, the pics are blurry but she was on the move!

I love this one because she really is leaping through that hula hoop!

Frozen yogurt - or ice cream to Rebecca.  She gets to choose this as a reward for a positive reinforcement system we have.  This girl loves her ice cream - strawberry flavor please!

I've shown lots of pictures of bubbles on here before - she continues to love to play with them.  She is especially in to trying to pop them with a stick or the new one, throwing handfuls of dirt at them to see if the pop!

I'm so glad she has a love of books.  We read and tell a lot of stories!  Here she is with my friend, Laurie, reading a story about cows.

More reading time with Grandma.
From all the above pictures, it seems like she is always very busy with educational and fun outdoor activities.  She is, quite often, but she also just likes to lay in front of the TV and watch her shows!

Now on to two funny stories from the week.  Rebecca and I were grocery shopping last Saturday and she hit me in the head (on purpose) while I was getting something from a shelf.  I was so irritated!! I said "That is NOT o.k...what do you need to say to mommy?"  Of course, I was expecting "I'm sorry" or something like that.  Nope, not my daughter.  She replied to my above question with "Calm down mommy"!  Needless to say, I was NOT calm.  It's funny now, but I was about to leave her at the store.

Lastly, we were at Rite Aid the other day.  Yes, it's a pharmacy, but we were there to get good old fashioned Thrifty Ice Cream.  Chocolate Malted Crunch to be exact.  My favorite.  It is amazing.  I still remember going to Thrifty in Diamond Bar a million years ago and getting a double scoop for like 15 cents.  Those were the days!

Anyway, we were at Rite Aid, heading back to where Mike was at the freezer in the back of the store.  Rebecca and I were strolling along holding hands and very abruptly, she stopped and practically ripped my arm off.  What was it that made her stop?  See below:

And yes, she is currently requesting an M&M themed birthday party!

You are such a creative mom!! I love the obstacle course.

And my mouth was watering at the thought of chocolate malted crunch. Stupid Utah and their lack of delicious ice cream.
