Throwback Thursday

I'm sorry it's been so long since I posted.  As most of you know, it's been a rough month for us.  For those of you that don't know, I found out a few weeks ago that I will be getting laid off in December.  SO scary.  Luckily, the company posted some positions and I have interviewed for one.  I should find out early next week if I got it.  It's not an ideal role for me, but it's better than the alternative.  So, please pray, keep your fingers crossed, send happy vibes - whatever your preferred method.

Since today is Throwback Thursday, and I will be showing you some pics of Rebecca's dance class, I thought I'd send one of me circa 1977.

Aside from the bad news we got in October, it was a pretty good month.  Rebecca has been waiting for Halloween since last Halloween.  She has grown to love this holiday more than the others!  We made LOTS of Halloween crafts, she has grown to love Nightmare Before Christmas and she loves all the Halloween decorations (but only if it's HAPPY ghosts, pumpkins, skeletons, witches, etc.).

Here are some Halloween pics:

Pumpkin Patch!
Carving the pumpkin.  She didn't want to help clean it out because it feels "asgusting" (disgusting).

Wonder Woman!!  She chose this costume.  It was cute because there's a little boy in her class that loves Batman.  They worked out a whole little story about how they would be super heroes together and catch the bad guys and put them in jail.

At a Fall Festival at her school - making a craft.
After trick-or-treating - picked a few pieces to eat right away!
A couple of nights after Halloween.  I told her she could have a piece.  She dumped it all out on the floor and shaped it all around her.  Then she called it her "circle of candy".  I call that - dream come true!
One funny story from Halloween.  We wanted to visit some neighbors of ours that Rebecca sees pretty much every day.  It's a family with two teenaged kids.  They are super sweet to Rebecca.  So we wanted to go show them her costume.  It wound up being kind of awkward because they weren't opened for business for trick or treaters.  Anyway, we said hello and then were walking away from their house and she said "They did NOT have candy!  I am SHOCKED!".  Please, please, please...I hope they didn't hear her!

Aside from Halloween, we've been busy with dancing and swimming.  Here are some pics:

Warming up before going in the pool.
Walking down a ramp into the pool for the first time.  She was VERY confident right at this moment - not even holding on to the handrail.  That lasted another 5 seconds after this pic was taken when she realized the water was getting deeper.  Then she panicked.
The teachers picked the few kids who were panicked looking or screaming and it became a sub-class.  Rebecca started LOVING it immediately.  Here she is blowing bubbles.
High 5s!
Here's a video of her swimming.

Dance class.

Here are some videos from dance class:

In other news, Rebecca has been doing so great at school.  She's learning so much and continues to amaze us with her brilliance!  Here are some cool things she's written or drawn lately:
She wrote my nephew's name (Ethan) on his b-day card.  She did this all by herself.  Not bad!
A self portrait.  By Rebecca.
She said this is her friend, Wyatt.
She is now counting down the days to Thanksgiving.  Ready for "our big feast"...and she has told be 10 times that she doesn't want to eat cranberries!

I've been thinking about you lately and finally remembered to check your blog. Rebecca is so big! Sounds like a super stressful situation with the job...I'll be hoping along with the rest that you find a new position quickly.
