Another thing she's had some fun with is a little science kit I bought her. She loved that baking soda/vinegar experiment we did a few weeks ago, so I got this little kit and we did some 'speriments (experiments). She had fun with it until it was time to put it away and then she had a meltdown.
Speaking of meltdowns...we had an EPIC one on Saturday morning. EPIC! It all started when she wanted to do a "project" which means some sort of craft usually. She chose one where you take a piece of adhesive paper in the shape of a butterfly and stick tiny squares of tissue paper to it.
So, she dumped out the bag of squares and then she wanted to jump in the pile. I told her no. She begged. I said, "if you want to do that, you can, but it's going to make a big mess and you have to clean it up.". She said she would and then jumped. Then she sprinkled them on her head, threw pillows into the pile, etc. Each step of the way I reminded her that it was going to make a bigger mess and she would have to clean it up.
So, eventually, there was probably an 8 foot square area covered with these little pieces of paper. Of course, the task looked daunting. She cried and said "I don't know how to do it". I demonstrated. She cried. She screamed. She wailed!!! For TWO HOURS!!!!
It would have been easy to give in. But I wanted to win this one. I was determined. Unfortunately, so was she.
Eventually, after losing her once a week soda and one of her favorite toys, the threat of losing the ipad finally did her in. She worked and worked and finally got it done.
I swear I wanted to sing "We the Champions" or "Eye of the Tiger" or something after!
