I walked into Rebecca's classroom the other day and walked around to look at all the work posted up on the walls. A little jolt of self-esteem ran through me when I saw this:
"My mom was a babe". I thought, aww...how cute...she knew the old 80s definition of that word! And then I looked at the title of that particular bulletin board "The Distant Past" and realized it meant "my mom was a baby" since we had to supply baby pictures of me and Mike not too long ago. Self-esteem deflated. And since when was 1973 the DISTANT past? I'm not that old! Or am I?
At the beginning of September, we participated in a 4.01k walk. Yes, I work for Prudential, and isn't that a clever name? It was supposed to raise awareness about people saving more for retirement. It was at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and I thought it would be fun to go as a family. It's about 2.5 miles, and Rebecca was a trooper. She walked the whole way and we did in almost exactly 1 hour. She even ran a little bit here and there. She did keep asking "Is that the finish line" every time she saw a marker that we'd gone another kilometer.
Then she was bummed that she wasn't going to get to be the winner of the race (there were like 10,000 people there). So we told her she could be the winner of the family. We got near the finish line and let her go ahead and run through it. The Laker Girls were there and high fived and cheered when she ran through. SO cute! Here are some pics:

| If you look really closely right in the middle you'll see our names. They had the names of all the participants on a big wall. |

| The crowd at the starting line. There were about 40 or 50 of my co-workers there too. |
