Rebecca's language is slowly starting to develop. She still doesn't say as many words as she's "supposed" to say, but we're seeing some progress...slowly. Here are some of her new words:
- baboon (balloon)
- Oh yeah
- Peese (please)
- mo mo (more)
We recently instituted an official time out procedure. I'm using Supernanny's technique because it makes sense to me. The first time we did it, she thought it was a fun game to sit down on the mat and get up and have me take her back there. After about 10 times, she got it - and cried the entire time. The next couple of times, she really didn't try to get up but did cry for the whole 2 minutes. Now, most of the time, just the threat of time out gets her to stop the negative behavior. I wonder how long that will last!
There are also a few things that she really, really loves right now. First, her Woodstock stuffed animal. We learned early on, as an infant, that she liked stuffed animals with hair. She would rub and tug on the hair as she fell asleep. She had one monkey with a little tuft of pink hair on his head that is now bald due to all of her attention!! So when I saw Woodstocks at Kohl's a year or so ago, I got a couple. She LOVES him. He has an entire main of hair for her to play with. She sleeps with him and turns to him for comfort. She can often be found hugging and snuggling him. Here's a picture of her with Woodstock, Minne and Dora the other day. She set up Woodstock and Minnie all by herself like that - I added Dora.
Another of her loves of the moment is listening to me sing to her before bed each night. We've been doing this for several months and there was a list of 5 or 6 songs that we cycled through. But probably for about the past 2 weeks, the only song she allows me to sing is "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid. It all started because she has some Ariel jammies and now, if I start singing something else, she shakes her head and points to her jammies (even if she's not wearing the Ariel ones). It's pretty cute. I do love singing to my girl.
She loves arts and crafts. She's especially into stickers right now. A couple of weeks ago, I took her to Michael's with me to peruse the kids craft aisles and see what was suitable for her age group. I found a bunch of stuff and we've done most of them a couple of times. Here she is at Michael's:
She loves helping. I think she feels so proud of her self and like such a big girl when she gets to help. She loves throwing things in the trash, carrying a bag in from the car and many other things. Today, at Trader Joe's, she wanted to hand each item to the checker so he could scan it. Her pay - a much longer than usual strip of stickers! Her dream come true! She also likes to carry in my purse or the diaper bag from the car. Here she is a few days ago:
Here are a few other pictures from the past week or so - just because they're cute!

Here are our feet. We were sitting on the porch the other day, and I looked down and saw this - it just made me smile.

Here she is with Grandma!
Rebecca's first pig tails. She had them ripped out in about 3 minutes flat.
