Shark Week & Sobriety Test

Interesting title to this post, right?

First, let me explain the Shark Week part.  I'm not referring to the Discovery Channel's week-long shark themed programming.  I'm referring to a little "incident" that happened in the tub a few days ago.  I was at work and get the following text from Mike:

"Gross!! Punky (Rebecca's nickname) pooped in the tub...You should have seen her swimming away from the poop like it was a shark..."

There was more to it than that, but I left out the gross parts.  It made me laugh out loud at work!  So funny!  And I'm sure Rebecca will appreciate having this remembrance some day!!

Aren't you glad there are no pictures??

Next, I will explain why a two year old is taking a sobriety test!!  OK, not really, but this picture made me laugh:
Rebecca and I spent some time at a huge park not too far from our house.  The walking/biking trail has a divided road.  I was telling her to stay on one side of the line so people could pass by.  She chose to walk ON the line.  she passed the sobriety test!
Here are some more pictures from the park:
She loves dandelions!

You can see in the sobriety test picture that she has her treasure bucket with her.  We found LOTS of treasures  - pine cones and all kinds of neat things.  There is also a big dog park at this park.  We sat at these picnic tables for 10 minutes watching the dogs and then she laid out all her treasures.
Me and my shadow
And last but not least, we have been doing a lot of art projects lately.  She really loves them.  I read somewhere that at this age, it's more about the process and exploration than it is about the end product.  That was hard for me.  I wanted her to create something.  If we set out to paint a butterfly, then I wanted it to look like a butterfly.  But, I have been trying to just let her enjoy it - even if the only thing we create is a big mess!

I read online about coloring dry rice and then gluing it onto paper.  So, we made some different colors and then we went outside to glue and sprinkle.  She had so much fun.  She liked squirting the glue, she liked sprinkling, she liked just feeling the rice run between her fingers.  She liked pouring the rice from one bowl to the next.  It was a very successful art project/learning experiment.

We also hung them up on her closet door and she continues to admire her work!

Here are some of the results:
