Good Mommy??? You Be The Judge!

A few nights ago, Rebecca wanted some of her Easter candy after dinner.  So, I poured a few jelly beans into a bowl from a little tube she got from a neighbor.  After I handed it to her, I realized that the tube had already been opened.  I asked Mike and he hadn't opened it.  So, I quickly grabbed the bowl away from Rebecca and she pretty much lost it!  I offered her some of the 4,000 other candy choices she had but she was crying and carrying on.  Here's what followed:

Me:  Rebecca, I am trying to be a good mommy by keeping you safe and not giving you something that could hurt you.

Rebecca:  Good mommies do NOT take Candy AWAY FROM OTHER PEOPLE!!!!!

And there may have been a foot stomp involved, but I'm not sure.  She does have a way of making me feel like a total failure even when I am trying to do the right thing!!  And she has also been threatening both of  us lately with "I am gonna tell your mom" when she doesn't like something we say or do.  So, Grandma, be expecting a lot of calls!
Posing with her Easter basket.

Easter egg hunt.

The Easter Bunny brought her some sidewalk chalk paint.  She had LOTS of fun with it!

The next few pictures are with two little neighbor girls who Rebecca has been playing with lately.  I think she loves having playmates who are big girls and I think they like it that they have a little one doting on them.  The older girls got one of their balls stuck up in a tree.  So, their mom got out a roll of duct tape and told them to fashion a tool that could help them get it.  Here they all are hard at work taping sticks together.

Their finished creation...it actually worked (with a little help from Mike).

Our big girl at gymnastics.  She is LOVING this class...especially any time she gets to hang on rings or jump off of things.

Here she is climbing up a chain cargo net type thing at the park.  One thing I have been so proud of lately is how persistent and brave she is with some playground equipment.  There are ladders or bridges or this net that she is initially scared of.  She'll do a couple of steps and cry and be scared.  But a little while later, she'll try again...and do it!  She is SO proud of herself.  I love to see her little face just beaming with pride and accomplishment.  I talk to her about bravery and courage and practice and persistence.  Amazing how many lessons one can learn just from playing!!

Trying on my heels!

This is my FAVORITE!  She made this at school last week when their unit was about Imagination.  How cute is that?  She got really in to the Imagination unit.  She would make up these crazy things like "Mommy, what if a kangaroo came in our house and made dinner".  And I would say "not likely" and she would reply, Mommy, it's your imagination!  I love it.

Um...Let's talk about how long Rebecca's hair is! Holy Cow! Holy Hair! It's been a while since I've checked into the blog. I still love it! Love hearing about your family adventures! I still want us to be neighbors.
