The Big 3!!!

Our little girl turned 3 years old on Saturday.  And to think, 3 years ago, we were a bit worried that we might kill her with our fumbling and ignorance and inexperience.  But she's survived...and thrived!  And now, she might just kill us with her defiance and energy and sass!

Here are some pictures from the party:

Bubble Guppies cake!
We let her invite one little friend from school - here they are playing.

She got lots of nice presents.  New toys, clothes books - you name it.  I still haven't found places for everything!

Another big even happened that day...she moved in to her big girl bed!  Well, a toddler bed anyway, but she can get in and out of it whenever she wants.  Grandma and Grandpa gave her some new bedding and Mike, Grandpa and cousins Julie and Joe helped put the bed together.  Grandma and Grandpa hung the new curtains.  Rebecca was thrilled.  She kept jumping in and out of the bed...such a novelty!  She's done really well with it - stays in her bed when she's supposed to.  It's been another thing I stressed a lot about, but has been fine.

We went to her 3 year doctor appointment this morning.  She only wanted to go if it was the girl doctor (we go to a husband and wife practice).  She was actually excited to go!  She got a doctor kit for her birthday and we've been practicing exams all week.  The girl doctor is really sweet and talks like Minnie Mouse, which after about 10 seconds is super annoying, but Rebecca LOVED her!  She colored some pictures before we went and the doc hung them up on the wall.  She's growing perfectly well - everything looks great!  Due to our practice, Rebecca even said to the doc "I like your stethoscope"!

She did embarrass us a little though.  Let me preface this story with the fact that Rebecca is a good eater.  I mean, very balanced meals.  She liked fruits and veggies and eats them regularly.  However, this was the exchange with the doctor:

Doc:  Rebecca, what's your favorite drink?
Rebecca:  I like SODA!
Doc:  What's your favorite thing to eat?
Rebecca:   CANDY!

Oh great - so now she thinks that's all we feed her!  Then later:

Doc:  Rebecca, what's your favorite thing about going to school?
Rebecca:  We get to have snack!

Seriously??

P.S.  Did you know they now calculate BMI for kids starting when they're 2?  Crazy.

Other than that Rebecca continues to be so smart.  She amazes us with the things she says and the things she remembers.  She has just recently started getting in to Frozen.  She knows all the songs.  We sing them at the top of our lungs on the way home from school.  And if the first few songs aren't over yet, we sit in the car in the garage and belt out Let It Go...what is cuter than a 3 year old singing (with passion...and dramatic arm movements)..."The cold never bothered me anyway"!
